Youth of the parish (5th grade and older) are invited to become Altar Servers. Altar Servers assist the priest during the Mass. It is one of the most helpful and meaningful services that people can perform in the parish and is an opportunity to learn more about the church and our worship of God. If you have received First Communion and Confirmation and are in the 5th grade or older, you are eligible to participate.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Sacred Scripture so that the community of faith may hear the Word of God. A lector is the person who proclaims the first or second reading at Mass. This person also may lead the Psalm (in the absence of a cantor) and the Prayers of the Faithful at Mass (in the absence of the deacon). Lectors must believe that Sacred Scripture is the Word of God and have deep respect for God's presence in that Word.
Musicians
The Ministry of Music provides music during weekend Masses, holy days, weddings, funerals and Reconciliation services. Parishioners are invited to share their musical talents with the rest of the congregation through this ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
These lay people are sometimes referred to as Eucharistic Ministers. They also may assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass. In addition, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to get to church. Volunteers for this ministry must be actively participating in the sacramental life of the Church. Training is required and will be provided. Call the church office at 244-4128 if you would like to partipate in the special ministry and to get on the list for training.
Ushers / Ujieres
These ministers welcome those who come to church for Mass. Being a welcoming community is very important to our parish. The ushers are the first face of the parish. They greet those who come to our church, offer help to those in need, distribute parish newsletters, carry out the collection and any other function that is necessary.
Sacristans
Sacristans assist, facilitate, and provide support and coordination for preparing the altar and worship space for all liturgies, and other liturgical ministries. In addition, they make the necessary preparations for liturgical activities.
If you wish to consider any of these ministries, please contact: The Parish Office at (806) 244-4128.
